The room you write in should feel like yours.

Twelve built-in themes, wallpapers that can move, a full theme editor, and controls for the page itself. Set the look once for the whole series, or give a single book its own.

    Put something behind the words

    Drop in a still image, a GIF, or a short video and it becomes the project wallpaper. Image strength, blur, and a theme tint keep it from competing with the text, and animation can be paused when you want a quieter room.

    Surface opacity decides how much of the wallpaper shows through. Set it once with a master control, or separately for the window chrome, panels, fields, editors, and floating windows.

    Start from a built-in theme, then change anything

    Every one of the thirty-two colors is yours to edit: the workspace, panels, fields, the writing page, text, accents, selection, highlights, buttons, borders, and the six story colors used across planning tools.

    Save the result to My Themes, export it as an .opustheme file, or import one from another writer. The built-in themes stay as they are, so there is always a clean starting point.

      One look for the series, or one for each book

      Appearance is set at the series level, so every book in the project opens the same way. Any book can override the theme, the wallpaper, or the transparency on its own and inherit the rest.

      A dark, rain-streaked wallpaper for the noir installment. A warm sepia for the prequel. Switch books in Manage and the room changes with them.

      It travels with the project

      Theme, wallpaper, and transparency are saved inside the .opws file, not in the app. Open the project on another computer and it looks the way you left it.

      Wallpaper media is stored at source quality alongside your manuscript, so a reinstall never resets the room.

      Shape the page before you type

      Manuscript Style sets the font, size, line spacing, first-line indent, and paragraph spacing for the writing page. Choose curly or straight quotation marks and how dashes are typed, then write without thinking about them again.

      Bring your own fonts

      Import TrueType, OpenType, or WOFF2 fonts and use them on the writing page, in the Appearance Studio, and in Publisher when it’s time to lay out the book.

      Five ways to see the draft

      Typewriter keeps the cursor line centered. Focus hides everything but the page. Continuous puts all chapters in one scroll, Pageless gives you one column, and Pages stacks draft pages like a printed document.

      Soundscapes

      Add your own audio and build playlists with shuffle and repeat. Set one as the project default, then give a chapter its own when the scene calls for it.

      Arrange the workspace around the way you work

      Split the window and keep the outline, a character sheet, or a research document beside the manuscript. Pop a tool out to its own window and move it to a second monitor. The Appearance Studio itself floats, so you can watch the workspace change while you adjust it.
